Over here at the Fuhry household, we have linux on over half of our computers. In fact, presently, of the 6 machines in the house, only 1 does not have it installed (or does it?...). We run linux as a server computer in the house, and whenever I do boot into it on my machine (which is a sadly low number), I have found it to be extremelly stable. Far less crashes, and open source programs just rock. The only reason Windows (ouch, the word is acid to the mouth) is still installed on my computer is because of gaming - which I spend far too much time at. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR too much time at. _________________ -theflamingchicken |

Yeah, if only more game companies could realize that a startatlingly large percentage of people out there are uber geeks that run linux, and many of them refuse to buy games and just play open source ones because they are cross-platform (linux compatible, as well). The four games that I know of that run very well on Linux are Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, Doom 3, and Unreal Tournament 2004.
By the way, here's an interesting article on the future of gaming on the linux box:

Matt,
At one of the tech club meetings you said something about handing out linux boot CDs. Not instalation, but just so that we can see why it is so awesome.
Do you know a site where I can download an ISO?
Where you talking about knoppix?
If you were, than don't worry about it.
Thanks |
